GCSE Results 2014

Middlewich High School students celebrate their excellent GCSE results!

The Headteacher, Mr K. Simpson, stated: “Following our successful Ofsted last year I am delighted to report that our students receiving their GCSE results today have achieved exceptionally well. Ofsted recognised that Middlewich High School is an inclusive school and the staff and students here at Middlewich High School will be feeling a huge sense of pride in realising our motto of ‘Achievement for All’. The strong partnership that we promote between the school and home is the key to our students’ success. We would like to thank all members of staff associated with the school, parents and Governors in supporting our students achieve their holistic targets both academically and personally.”

High standards in GCSE English have been raised again with students achieving 72.5% expected progress (National Average 2013 was 69%). 52 students were entered for English language GCSE and English Literature GCSE and achieved 95% and 100% A*-C respectively. High standards in Mathematics have been maintained, with 61% of our students achieving a C grade or higher in GCSE Mathematics. 98% of students entered for Maths Statistics GCSE achieved A*-C grades, with 44% achieving an A* or A grade!  

Our young scientists have excelled with 93%, 95% and 96% achieving A* - C grades in Biology, Physics and Chemistry respectively; with over 35% achieving the top grades in each of the 3 sciences! The Art department maintains its 100% achievement and continues to proudly display the students’ work around our school. Students achieved exceptionally well in Modern Foreign Languages where 50% entered for French or German achieved a grade A* or A. ICT, RE, History and Geography are also celebrating success indicating progress across a broad range of subjects. 15% of our Year 11 cohort achieved an outstanding 5 or more A* or A grades, which is a testament to the hard work of our talented students and staff.
