The i-care group were delighted to be invited to the LSCB reunion Conference on Friday 16th December to celebrate the huge success of the ActNow2016 Safeguarding Conference that was held at Wychwood Park in the summer term.  The event, held at St Peters Church Hall in Sandbach was hosted by the Cheshire East SCiES team and the group were all presented with certificates by Kate Rose, Principal Manager Safeguarding Cheshire East.

This conference gave us the opportunity to discuss what we thought went well, the memorable issues and to voice our views on how we can improve next year’s conference.  It was another great chance to remind ourselves about the key speaker who challenged our attitudes to stereotypes as well as meet up with students and staff from other schools.  We have discussed our future plans within Middlewich High School and are looking forward to working with the SCiES team in planning the conference for 2017.

At the end of the summer conference, we all made a pledge of one thing that we would do to spread the message to others and we made a clock that will be given to key members of the community.  We were able to present one of these clocks to our headteacher, Mr Simpson and will be inviting two other people to receive a clock and to tell them more about our work in safeguarding.

Last but not least, the lunch provided was delicious and we were able to start our Christmas celebrations by pulling crackers and amusing ourselves with the jokes.  The i-care group look forward to attending next year’s conference and contributing to its ongoing success.
