Middlewich High School

Excellence in Learning – Achievement for All

Race For Life 2016

On Monday July 11th and Wednesday July 13th we held the first ever Middlewich High School Race for Life.

On Monday July 11th and Wednesday July 13th we held the first ever Middlewich High School Race for Life. Although at times it felt like the weather was against us, our positive attitude and dedication towards making the event a success pushed us through.

During Monday’s event students were invited to spend their money at our stalls. Ranging from cakes to voting to gunge a member of SLT, the atmosphere was amazing, helped along by DJ Mr Wilson and his ‘epic’ tunes! The interform dance competition saw Newton as overall winners! We would like to take the opportunity to thank Middlewich Cancer Research for coming along and running a tombola and to say thank you to the following businesses for donating raffle prizes and goods for our stalls: Temptations of Middlewich; Cups and Cakes; Middlewich Morrisons; Middlewich Tesco; Aiden Devaney butchers; Alexandria Beauty; Fitmums; Black Eyed Susie Floral; Babyobaidi Children’s Party Planners; Beauty Escape Northwich; Rainbows Nursery; Roberts bakery and Middlewich Town Council. Without their kind donations and support the  event could not have gone ahead.

With the weather improving by Wednesday we were able to at last complete our race. Students participated in 1K, 3K and 5K runs. We saw some brilliant designs on t-shirts and excellent face painting. It was clear to see how dedicated the students were to complete their distances and to raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research. As a school community we have come together to help beat cancer.

Originally we set ourselves the target of £1,500. It is our delight to say that we have surpassed this target! Some students have raised as much as £200; an outstanding success for these individuals. Mrs Mansfield and Miss Walker, the event organisers, are truly grateful to all students and staff for making this event the success that it was and pass on their thanks to the PE department for helping to co-ordinate the event.
