We were delighted to welcome Google Expeditions into Middlewich High on Monday, if a picture is worth a thousand words it is hard to count the value of our excursions.

Google Expeditions is a virtual reality teaching tool that lets pupils join immersive virtual trips all over the world to get up close with historical landmarks and even dive underwater with sharks! This exciting programme enabled us to bring faraway places to life by taking students to the Great Wall of China and the Barrier Reef, on a visit through rainforests in Borneo, and even out of this world on a visit to the moon and the international space station.

All KS3 students were able to take part in this wonderful opportunity, and all agreed on how much they enjoyed the programme. ‘it was phenomenal’ said an excited Mackenzie Barr, a sentiment shared by Shannon Mitchell ‘it was interesting and it felt like you were there’.
Morgan Farley had clearly enjoyed her time on the moon saying her experience was ‘out of this world’. Callum Hough really enjoyed visiting the range of sights and explained ‘putting the goggles on gave me a great idea of what different places are really like’.

Year 7 and 8 students are now going to put what they have leant about the Borneo rainforest into practice in their Geography lessons.
For the Geography department and all the students involved, it was a very memorable experience, and we thank Google expeditions for visiting Middlewich High School. #googleexpeditions
