Head's Blog 13th October 2017
We have had a real focus on emotional well-being over the last two weeks, starting with the launch of the Emotionally Healthy Schools Programme, which we are very proud to lead. The day was attended by nearly 200 colleagues from schools across Cheshire and the North West. There was also representation from agencies who are able to offer support to schools, giving an excellent opportunity for networking. Feedback from the day was superb, and colleagues left the event inspired and ready to start their own journeys to support the emotional health of their students, staff and communities.
We celebrated World Mental Health Day this week, with staff and students all wearing yellow to support the charity Young Minds; we raised a brilliant £585!
Mrs Parkins gave us the opportunity to recognise members of staff last week. We marked World Teachers’ Day, by celebrating Staff in Education. Students and staff were able to write Thank You notes to any members of staff they felt deserved recognition. It was a really positive and uplifting experience, showing our staff just how valued they are.
We launched our Middlewich Stars Programme with Year 7 this week, which aims to raise achievement for our high ability and gifted & talented students as well as raising awareness of the skills needed for life-long learning.
We also welcomed some of our potential students of the future into school on Wednesday evening. Aspire club allows some of Year 5 to come and experience life at High School, working with our staff and students to enjoy a different subject each week. We definitely had some budding artists this week!
We are heading towards the end of our first half term, with just a week to go. We break up on the 20th October, so have a restful break and we will see all our students back here on Monday 30th October.
