3rd November 2017
Welcome back, I hope you all had a restful week. Our Year 11s particularly, have been hard at work already, with their first week of trial exams.
Our staff are relaxed and energised for the new half term, thanks to the benefits of Tai Chi. As part of our Emotionally Healthy Schools project, Mrs Perry (in her new role of instructor with Tai Chi for Health in Cheshire) has been running a course for staff after school. It’s great to have Mrs Perry working with us again, and we are all feeling the benefits of her sessions. Our Staff Training this week involved looking beyond the behaviours of young people to the reasons behind those behaviours. By doing this, we are able to put strategies in place to help and support them.
We are looking forward to welcoming Holocaust survivor, Tomi Komoly on Monday. He will be talking to year 9 about his life, and his testimony will remain a powerful reminder of the horrors so many experienced. We are grateful to the Holocaust Educational Trust for co-ordinating the visit and we hope that by hearing from Tomi, it will encourage our students to learn from the lessons of the Holocaust and make a positive difference in their own lives.
Our focus for this half term is very much on our charity work, with Children in Need coming up on the 17th; always a fun event in school. We are also working closely with St Luke’s Hospice to support their selection box collection and their Christmas Jumper Day. We will also be running our usual campaign for Middlewich Foodbank. Fundraising is hugely important to Middlewich High School, and my thanks go to Mrs Parkins for co-ordinating our efforts.
We have a busy few weeks ahead in the run up to Christmas, have a great weekend!
