Happy New Year, and welcome back!

We finished last year on a high note, with our Reward Trip to the Trafford Centre, our annual Senior Citizens’ Party and our end of term assembly. It was great to share a mince pie and a glass of mulled wine with our local residents at the Senior Citizens’ Party, while they were entertained with some of our school’s best talent. The Christmas assembly was the usual, joyful end to the term with the Science Elves making another appearance to give out raffle prizes, and some excellent music from students.

We were straight back into a busy term this week, with Year 10 and 11 sitting their GCSE Certificate in Digital Application exams in ICT followed by Year 8 sitting their English and Maths exams next week. Year 8 will be rewarded with an Artefacts Day next Friday, where they will get the opportunity to look at genuine historical memorabilia.

It was fantastic that so many of you attended the GCSE Success Evening last night; it was a great night and it marks the beginning of a few months of hard work for our Year 11 students. We can’t wait to see their success in the summer.

Next Wednesday sees our whole school Careers Fair, followed by Year 8 Pathways Evening which is an introduction to the GCSE options process. It will give the students valuable information to aid them in making their subject choices for Year 9.

I am looking forward to 2018 being another outstanding year for Middlewich High School.
