Head's Blog 29th June 2018
With the GCSE exams now completed, I would like to commend the year group for their calm attitude and great academic focus. Thank you to all staff for their work in achieving this; the care and wellbeing of students has ensured a positive mental attitude. The GCSE Art and Design Exhibition was a great success last week; we are privileged to have such great students, the work on display was exceptional.
We said goodbye to Year 11 last week, with a leavers’ assembly in school, and their Prom at the Vale Royal Golf Club. It was fantastic to see them celebrating their achievements and we wish them every success in their future endeavours.
Thank you to everyone who came to the Multi-Academy trust meeting; your comments were very valuable and it was encouraging to hear positive feedback.
It has been a very busy couple of weeks, with a Year 7 trip to Chester Cathedral, a Year 10 Geography trip, a Primary Swimming Gala, the Year 4 Sports Festival and a Year 7 trip to Chester Zoo as well as a Year 10 cross-curricular visit to the Globe Theatre! These visits are invaluable in embedding learning and providing the students with a rounded education; thank you to the staff involved and to the students for their excellent representation of the school on these occasions.
We have had a number of Primary visits too; ranging from music workshops, to food tech and rocket building in science. It is always lovely to have the students here, and it is useful for them to get used to the school environment. The Year 5 Wow Days were also a great success; these days give them a real feel for high school life, the opportunity to meet the staff and the full high school experience ahead of applying for places later in the year. Thank you to our prefects for guiding and supporting them during the day.
We have also had another hugely successful iValue Day, including a trip to the Cheshire Show for Year 9 and a college visit for Year 10. We were winners at the Cheshire Show for the 10th year running! We have been invited back next year, as well as being asked to run an Emotional Health and Wellbeing stall. The FAB Festival was also a great success; thank you to everyone who visited our tombola stall and many thanks for all your generous donations-we were able to raise £600 for school funds!
With only 3 weeks to go, there is a lot to fit in before the summer break including sports day, our summer music concert and welcoming our new year 7s for their transition days. Keep an eye on our website and Facebook page for more information.
Have a great weekend!
