Introduction from Mr Edwards, Acting Headteacher
On behalf of everyone at Middlewich High School I would like to wish you all a happy and successful 2019. I hope that you have all enjoyed a peaceful and restful break with families and friends over the Christmas and New Year period.
I would like to introduce myself as the school’s Acting Headteacher until our new Headteacher, Ms Thurland, starts in April. I am very aware of the existing strengths of the school and its well-deserved reputation, and I feel privileged to have the exciting opportunity of leading the school forward in the coming months.
Students are once again working hard in both lessons and their independent studies; Year 10 and 11 returned to school and went straight into Computer Science and PE exams, Year 8 exams begin next week and the Year 11 trial exams next month. As always, I am impressed by their determination and dedication to their studies; all their hard work will ensure they receive the results they deserve.
In preparation for the GCSE English exam, Mr Nolan took a group of Key Stage 4 students to Manchester, for a GCSE Poetry Workshop yesterday. It was a valuable day which was both enjoyable, and useful in bringing the poetry they are studying to life.
We look forward to welcoming various outside agencies to our school at the end of the month, for another of our successful iValue Days. There will be a focus on careers, and a chance to speak to representatives from a wide range of industries; this is invaluable in helping students to decide on their chosen career path, but also to see where their hard work could take them in the future.
Next month brings Safer Internet Day, and LGBT History Month – we are looking forward to celebrating by focusing on the important messages that these days convey.
