Head's Blog 1st February 2019
We have had a busy couple of weeks here at MHS. Thank you to students, staff and parents for keeping the school running smoothly during our cold spell of weather. Attendance has remained high with the majority of students eligible for the 100%.
Last week, Year 9, 10 and 11 students visited Manchester to attend Poetry Live! They were able to listen to poets from their GCSE English Anthology recite the poems they have been studying for months, which really brought them to life.
Yesterday, we enjoyed another excellent i-Value Day. Year 7 were treated to sessions on Resilience from Blesma and the Samaritans, as well as learning some cooking skills with Love Food Hate Waste. Year 8 were visited by organisations such as Middlewich Vets and Cheshire Fire and Rescue to give them an insight into different careers available to them, followed by taster sessions in various subjects to help them with their Pathways options next year. Year 9 learnt life skills such as budget planning and goal setting, whilst Year 10 looked at relationships and emotional health. Year 11 were given the opportunity to visit various colleges and universities to inform their choices for further education, with 40 students remaining on site to focus on attainments in English and Maths GCSE.
Today, we are celebrating Number Day in school, while Year 7 are visiting Chester Zoo – we can’t wait to hear all about their trip!
Enjoy your weekend.
