Middlewich High School

Achievement for all

Head's Blog 27th March 2019

Many thanks to all the staff and students who got involved for Comic Relief. The students dressed in non-uniform whilst the staff chose to wear our school uniform. I must say though that the staff on the whole did not represent our high expectation for uniform standards. We experienced multiple earrings, slug-like eye brows, red lipstick, trainers, jeans, ear phones and phones on display. It was a good reminder, however, just how superb our school uniform standards are day to day. May I take this opportunity to thank all parents and carers for your full support at home ensuring your children do meet the school’s uniform policy.

Year 9 Geographers missed out on the Comic Relief fun as they were enjoying the sights of Salford, investigating urban re-generation. Staff report that the students represented their school exceptionally well.

World Book Day was a great success last week; thank you to the Mayor and Mayoress for coming in to judge our door competition. The results were announced in assembly:

Year 11 have now completed their exams and received their results. It has been a really positive experience for them, and they feel much more confident going into the real exams in the summer – it gives them an excellent starting point for their revision plans over the next few weeks, and they know what to expect when the time comes.

Finally, I would like to congratulate the Random Acts of Kindness Group for winning a Middlewich Oscar! They were successful in the Excellence in Education category and we are all very proud of their achievement.

Attendance continues to be one of school priorities and I am pleased to report that students punctuality and attendance overall continues to improve. There is a direct link between attendance and excellent outcomes for young people. We are also keen to instil the ethic of excellent attendance for future employment. In recognition of excellent attendance we have extended ou reward scheme to include vouchers for the attendance winners and non-uniform days for the best forms (accompanied by some confectionery!).

The Blog will be emailed out regularly, but you can also follow it on Facebook and Twitter.
