Hello and welcome back to another Positive Friday at Middlewich High School. It’s been another eventful week and we are once again proud of everything we have achieved over the past five days.

Today we are all celebrating Children in Need at the school. The students and staff are raising money by coming in dressed as their favourite hero/heroine. Everybody looks fantastic  and the staff have been creative too (although I’m sure a lot of the students will not be aware of most of the staff’s childhood hero costumes!). We had appearances from Denis the Menace, Starsky, Kenny Dalglish, Sporty Spice and Maradona to name a few..

The students also voted for their teacher of choice to be ‘gunged’. It was a close run thing with Mr Edwards, our Deputy Headteacher receiving the most votes, 5 more than second place. He could not believe the result insisting that he was very popular with the students (I have not told him we allowed the staff to vote!).

We had a very positive  Year 11 Parent’s Evening last night and a sincere thank you to everybody who attended. Attendance was well over 90%. We firmly believe the strong partnership we have with our parents and carers is one of the main reasons why our students are so happy, perform so well in their academic studies and extra-curricular pursuits.

Our sports teams have been representing the school again this week, with Year 7 footballers reaching the semi-finals of the recent school’s competition. Well done!

Next week is Anti-Bullying week and we will be selling wrist-bands in order to raise awareness of the event. I know how passionate our student community is about ensuring no bullying is experienced and look forward to this message being high profile.

I am already looking forward to the successes of next week and will report them in my blog.

Have a restful/ fun-filled weekend.
