Achievement for all

Head's Blog - 27/11/15

Hello and welcome to another Positive Friday at Middlewich High School.

The Humanities team have enjoyed a very successful Learning Walk this past fortnight. The process involves colleagues visiting each other’s classrooms to share ideas and then trial the best strategies back in their own lessons.  Student books are also shared to identify ‘Book Proud’ learners and gauge how well students are responding to teacher comments.

The Library is currently running a Scholastic Book Club to earn free books for our school. We'll be sending the Book Club leaflets home so that you and your child can choose from the latest exciting selection of books. Please place your order online at http://schools.scholastic.co.uk/middlewich-county by December 4th, 2015.

Following our whole-school debate on the motion 'There is no Place for True Freedom of Speech in Modern Society', the votes are in from across the school and the results are as follows:
60% for the motion - 40% against the motion.
Well done to our iDebate Team - to find out more about the debate please visit http://www.middlewichhigh.cheshire.sch.uk/news/?pid=3&nid=1&storyid=161

Finally, I would like to express my thanks to the school community for their involvement in our Ofsted visit on Tuesday. We were pleased to welcome a very experienced and professional team of 3 HMI inspectors. They met with myself, my Senior Leadership Team and our Governors to find out how we are establishing ourselves as such a successful school. The inspectors observed lessons taught in English and Maths and looked through student books. Our HMI guests were particularly impressed with the students they met throughout the day and how positive students were about their experiences here at Middlewich High School. I will look forward to releasing the Ofsted judgement in the near future.

Hoping you all have a restful weekend.
