Last week saw the end of this year’s GCSEs. I cannot express how impressed I have been with the students mature approach to their preparation and self-management in order to ensure their success when results are issued in August. Sincere wishes of good luck to all Year 11. Have a well-deserved rest.

Yr 10 students visited Castleton for their field studies on Monday and Wednesday. Very much a game of two halves thanks to our changeable weather: Sunshine and torrential rain! Perseverance ensured that coursework data was collected.

Our annual Science Chester Zoo visit was very successful, with students studying adaptations to the environment. Reports of escaped animals have been put down to the genetic makeup of some of our own students (and staff).

Every year we host WOW days where we invite our Year 5 students to experience life in our school. They have lessons taught by specialist teachers, learning to cook naan bread in our specialist food room and testing chemicals in the science laboratory for example. It was a pleasure to welcome them into our school.

And finally…. What a fantastic effort from our students and staff at an excellent Prom night on Thursday at the beautiful Abbey Vale Golf club.  Thanks to all staff who organised and helped with make more special memories (and candy floss!) for our Year 11. Well done to all students who made this a wonderful evening to say our goodbyes – you all looked so smart, elegant and mature.
