Welcome to the first Head’s Blog. This will be the start of regular updates and insights into activities and events within the school.
We’re now one month into the new academic year, and we have welcomed back our returning students, and helped our new students to settle in and adjust to their new journeys through high school.
Already as part of our focus on community events, we have been involved with some fantastic events, such as the WWI Centenary Commemoration workshops led by our year 10 History students, and European Day of Languages on the 26th of September, in which our students took part in activities celebrating the many different cultures of Europe. Thank you to all those who visited our Autumn Fair on Saturday 27th September; I’m sure you had an enjoyable day.
The first of our Citizenship Days was held on Tuesday 16th September. This was a great success, in which our students learned the importance of “Preparing for the future,” through a variety of fun and interesting workshops. Students had the opportunity to discover more about a diverse range of topics, such as: Higher Education, the key to successful applications and interviews, effective study and revision skills, and the importance of safe driving.
Open Evening on Thursday 25th September, was our chance to showcase the school and the fantastic work that all of our staff do to support and aid the learning of our students. The evening was a huge success, with a large number of potential students enjoying the opportunity to experience life as a part of Middlewich High School. I am delighted to say we even had parents signing up on the evening, and there were a huge amount of compliments paid about the ethos and relationships that we foster between students and staff. This week, we had our first Open Morning, giving students and their parents the chance to see the school in action. Our next Open Morning is Thursday 9th October, if you wish to attend, please contact the school.
We have some exciting events happening in the weeks ahead, such as a Duke of Edinburgh expedition on the 10th October, a Careers Fair for our year 9, 10 and 11 students on the 14th October, and our Prefects will be getting a training session on the 17th October. During the week of the 20th October, some of our year 10 students will be going on a trip to Belgium to visit the Battlefields of World War I. You can stay informed about activities happening in the school by reading our latest news articles.
