Today I am surrounded by superheroes as staff and students fully engage in the fun of raising money for Children in Need. As a school, we constantly ask our school community to think of the needs of others and I am delighted once again with their response. You can find photos from today here.
In a similar vein, we raised a staggering £214 for the Royal British Legion in selling our handmade Remembrance Poppies, made by staff and students; many thanks to them. We are already taking orders for next year and will run this as a charity enterprise, with all profits going to this much deserved organisation.
Mid-week we had our own primary cooking extravaganza as we welcomed students from Byley to use our catering facilities, learning the great life skill of making food from fresh ingredients. We are welcoming other partner schools in the near future. You can read more about that and find photos from the day here.
Earlier this week, we hosted the e-safety training night for parents and carers, presented by PC Jane Commins. Thank you to all those who attended, and for those of you who missed the evening, we will be uploading some informational documents to the website soon.
In the middle of the week we held our first Progress Evening of the year, with the focus on year 11 students. Once again, the partnership between school, home and the student ensures that every individual is supported and encouraged to achieve above and beyond their potential.
Throughout the week, senior staff and middle leaders have engaged in a learning walk, visiting a whole host of lessons, talking to students and reflecting on the atmosphere and ethos around the school. Our findings as always will continue to drive our Strategic Development Plan in ensuring we have an outstanding learning environment.
I would like to remind all of our ex-students from Class of 2014 about Certificate Evening on Thursday 20th November, and I hope to see you all there. We have had a fantastic response from people in the community and local businesses who have generously sponsored all of our prizes, so thank you to them. If you would like to attend the evening, please contact Eleanor Shakeshaft, Marketing and Events Coordinator, on 01606 288170, or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Have a great weekend.
