As some of you may know, Middlewich High School has been linked with Kilimo High School in Kenya for a number of years and yesterday we gave a warm welcome back to Nathan and Eunice, Principal and Deputy Principal of Kilimo. They could not have chosen a better day to join us and I am sure they were surprised to be greeted by the Mad Hatter and the Wicked Witch of the West!

They have a very busy week ahead of them as they embark on trips to visit local sights, such as Chester Cathedral, as well as many special activities and events planned here in school, including the performance of a Kenyan farewell song during assembly on Thursday 12th which our students are practicing for.

World Book Day proved to be an incredible success and I could not have wished for a better response from our staff and students who put such thought and effort into their costumes, door decorations and cakes for the bake-off which were all inspired by British novels.  Photographs from the day will be uploaded soon, so please check back on our website. Special thanks go to Miss Walker who put a huge amount of planning and preparation into the day’s events, and to Mrs Belt and Mrs Lowden who produced a delicious spread of canapés for our Afternoon Tea with Nathan and Eunice.

I hope that our World Book Day celebrations have helped to foster the enjoyment of reading for pleasure amongst our students.  This event is a wonderful example of how Middlewich High School promotes the best possible learning experiences and I am sure the day will be remembered for a long time to come.

Regards,

Mr Keith Simpson
