Middlewich High School

Excellence in Learning – Achievement for All

Christmas is Coming!

Student Leadership Blog 01/12/17

Over the past several weeks, primary schools from Middlewich and the surrounding area have come to Middlewich High School to participate in a football tournament. Last Thursday saw the final round of matches where over a month’s worth of hard work paid off as Wimboldsley won the trophy. This is only the second year of such a tournament and the Middlewich PE department will hopefully host many more in the future.

Last week year 11 had their final parents evening, the day after they all received their mock exam results. Many parents had an enjoyable and informative evening with all of their children's teachers, after discussing the results they got after lots of hard work. For each student the evening was very motivational and encouraging, to ensure everyone can get the best grades possible. Also thank you to all of the volunteering students who managed each door and offered refreshments, and thank you to all the teachers who stayed until late to ensure they could complete each appointment.

This week has been another excellent week with our sporting talents. The girls participated in netball matches from year 7 through to year 11 against St Nicks; all year groups won! The year 11 sports prefects also took part in football refereeing on Thursday and managed the teams spectacularly. As we draw closer to the Christmas holidays, the sports seasons begin to come to an end – but the sportsmanship and energy remains strong.

Preparations have been taking place in the music department towards the school's winter concert, which will be at 7pm on Tuesday 5th December in the drama studio and will feature various solo and group performances, including the school orchestra, guitar group and samba band. Every performer has been practising hard to provide a plethora of arrangements and genres, with students ranging from year 6 to year 11.
