Time for Revision
Student Leadership Blog 16th March 2018
On Wednesday 7th March, the BBC came into school to film as part of their news segment on the Emotionally Healthy Schools project. Our Headteacher, Mr Simpson and two year 11 students were all interviewed and recorded, as well as a lesson directed by Mrs. Parkins, covering various aspects of emotional health. Some students interested in media as a career were also given the opportunity to follow and talk to the visitors throughout the day, which was immensely useful in directing their plans. It is great to be recognised for our work as the national leading school on this area.
The clips were broadcasted the following Sunday at 10am on BBC North West.
Thursday was a special day for budding journalists or reporters, as it was BBC School Report Day. Mrs Peters and Mr Underwood helped organise the writing of several articles (one of which I wrote) as well as interviews and other journalism related tasks. This day saw responsibility given to everyone who was willing to take part, and each student involved completed their chosen idea thoroughly. It was a very successful day and I think we can all hope that similar events can happen in the future as there are evidently many students who wish to pursue journalism in the future.
This weekend the GCSE Year 11 students are going on a Science and Art revision weekend to Menai. As always the students will get a chance to get some focused revision done in science, while the art students will get the chance to complete various assessed art pieces. The weekend should be helpful and enjoyable for everyone, especially during the fancy dress disco on Saturday (where Mr Wilson will fulfil his famous DJ role). Everyone is very excited to go, and hopefully, like every other year, will love it and cherish the memories.
