Middlewich High School

Excellence in Learning – Achievement for All

Mike Taylor

Staff Governor

I have been a teacher for just over a decade and spent the first part of my training at Middlewich High School. Having tried multiple roles at Middlewich, I am most happy in my current classroom role, teaching science.

I am also a Governor for two other schools, and I am a member of the advisory group for one of England’s largest exam boards. I first experienced governance whilst setting up the first professional body for teaching in the UK, the Chartered College of Teaching.

I am an honorary research associate and PhD Candidate with both the University of Chester and the University of Glasgow, respectively, conducting research ranging from assessment to school leadership. I have spent many summer holidays training teachers in a wide range of countries such as Cambodia and Uganda. In the time I have left, I train in Karate and enjoy spending time in the Cheshire countryside with my dog.
